Richard Vinroot ’63 received the YMCA of Greater Charlotte’s John R. Mott Award and the Rotary Club of Charlotte’s Excellence in Leadership Award, recognizing his lifetime of civic leadership in Charlotte.

Bill Bamberger ’79 had his exhibition Boys Will Be Men on display at the Ackland Art Museum in March.

Andrew Powell ’79 has co-authored After Our Parents Won the War, a memoir that will be available for purchase on Amazon this June. The book revisits the world of a boarding school in 1965, where Andrew and co-author John Miller arrived as boys at the tail end of the British Empire.

Brad Ives ’86, senior advisor to the chancellor for strategy and planning at UNC–Chapel Hill, organized Carolina’s inaugural AI for Public Good Conference on April 13, bringing together nearly 600 attendees from government, industry, and academia to explore how artificial intelligence can advance societal well-being. The conference was co-chaired by Marina Chase Carreker ’03, founder of Galleon Strategies. The keynote discussion featured Thompson Paine ’05, head of geopolitics at Anthropic, alongside OpenAI’s chief economist. North Carolina State Treasurer Brad Briner ’99, Derek Chiang ’00, and Dan Folliard ’04 also participated as panelists and moderators.

Katharine Kelley ’86 was named chief executive officer of the Buckhead Coalition and Buckhead CID.

James Dean ’89 received an Oscar nomination in January 2026 for producing A Friend of Dorothy, nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the 98th Academy Awards.

Geoff McDonough ’93 was appointed chief executive officer of NodThera, a clinical-stage company developing NLRP3 inhibitors for inflammatory diseases.

Lindsay-Rae McIntyre ’00, a Microsoft and IBM veteran, became chief people officer for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines in March.

Emily Johnson ’05 was named a Crain’s New York Business Women of Influence 2026 honoree in April, recognized for her leadership in finance and public M&A law.

Nisarg Shah ’22 joined Ekho, a tech company building software for vehicle retail, in March to help drive client and product success.

Daniel Gonzalez ’23 graduated from Georgetown Law School.

Greear Webb ’23 served as the student speaker at Emory Law School’s commencement in May, having been selected by his peers as most outstanding third-year student.

Ann Goulian ’25 completed a one-year postgraduate fellowship with Dismas House.  The alumna will begin her JD at Stanford Law School this fall.

Willow Taylor Chiang Yang ’25 received the Barry Scholarship in April and will pursue a master’s in politics research at the University of Oxford.
