Alex speaks to scholars at a table.

Alex Lassiter ’10

In response to the damage caused by Hurricane Florence, Alex Lassiter ’10 joined forces with a few friends to create Carolina Calvary, a relief effort to deliver immediate help to Eastern North Carolina.

The group is working to coordinate the collection, transportation, and delivery of supplies and support to areas in need, starting with New Bern—a town that the storm hit particularly hard.

“We wanted to create an avenue to provide high impact to the areas hit hardest by the storm,” Alex says. “We have family and friends out there, and those communities need help. The Cavalry is a community led effort, and ‘neighbor helping neighbor’ is our mission. We view ourselves as neighbors, and it’s our responsibility to help in any way we can.”

More information is available at www.carolinacavalry.org or on the organization’s Facebook group.

If you’d like to contribute, the group is collecting monetary donations through GoFundMe.
