Morehead-Cain Alumni landed new jobs, received accolades, earned advanced degrees, and more. Here’s who made a move this fall.
- Richard Vinroot ’63 received the UNC Law Alumni Association’s Lifetime Achievement Ward.
- Frank Dowd ’78 received a 2024 Davie Award from the UNC–Chapel Hill Board of Trustees. Frank, a Morehead-Cain Foundation trustee emeritus, is president of the Dowd Foundation and chair of the board at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry. The award celebrates individuals who have given extraordinary service to the University or society.
- Mike McIntyre ’78 of Ward and Smith in Raleigh received the North Carolina Beach, Inlet, and Waterway Association’s (NCBIWA) Hero of the Coast Award. The alumnus was honored for his commitment to safeguarding North Carolina’s coastal communities from environmental challenges.
- David Wright ’80 of Robinson Bradshaw, immediate past chair of the Foundation’s board of trustees, was appointed to the Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Civil Rules by U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. His three-year term commenced in October. The Judicial Conference is the principal policy-making body of the federal court system.
- Frank Bruni ’86 was one of eight recipients to receive the North Carolina Award, the state’s highest civilian honor, for his contributions to literature. Frank is a Eugene C. Patterson Professor of the Practice of Journalism and Public Policy at Duke University and an author of multiple bestselling books. North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper ’79 presented the alumnus with the award.
- Angela Chadwick ’89 joined Wing, a drone delivery service and sister company of Google. The alumna previously worked as associate general counsel for Tesla.
- Bobby Evans ’91 has joined the San Francisco Giants as an advisor to the president of baseball operations. The alumnus is the former general manager of the team.
- Brad Briner ’99 was elected North Carolina treasurer.
- Melodie Potts Rosevear ’01 will step down from Teach For Australia, an organization she founded 17 years ago. The alumna will transition out of her role of CEO in mid-2025.
- Grace Buie ’18 joined LandYield, a startup bringing forest carbon opportunities to small landowners in the United States. She earned a joint master’s degree from the Yale School of the Environment and Yale School of Management in May.
- Matt Queen ’19 and Uzorma Owete ’20 have joined Robinson Bradshaw as attorneys.
- Kristina Chapple ’22 was named to the Forbes “30 Under 30” list under the venture capital category. The alumna is the first employee at 11 Tribes Ventures, where she helped raise $11 million for the firm’s first fund.
- Ira Wilder ’24 joined the Carolina Alumni Review as a photographer and writer.
