
Barbara Rosser Hyde ’83
Barbara Rosser Hyde ’83 of Memphis, Tennessee, has joined the Morehead-Cain Foundation Board of Trustees.
Barbara is an advocate for education reform and a leader in place-based philanthropy. The alumna is chair and CEO of the Hyde Family Foundation, an organization that invests in educational initiatives, community development, civic engagement, and the arts in Memphis.
She also served as national board chair for New York-based New Leaders and has been engaged on multiple local and national boards, including Shelby Farms Park Conservancy, Yale University Art Gallery, Teach for America, and Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
Barbara is the former executive director of Carolina’s Arts and Sciences Foundation. She served two-terms as a member of the UNC Board of Trustees and now sits on the advisory boards of the Institute for the Arts and Humanities and the Ackland Art Museum. As a member of the Campaign for Carolina’s steering committee, she helped raise more than $5 billion for the University.
Barbara’s decades of service and leadership in education and philanthropy will advance Morehead-Cain’s mission to shape scholars with purpose, said Morehead-Cain President Chris Bradford.
“Barbara joining the trustees marks a new chapter in an already storied history of service to Carolina and Morehead-Cain,” Bradford said. “We look forward to seeing her positive impact in our work to identify, invest in, and empower a community of leaders.”
A former member of the Morehead-Cain Scholarship Fund board, Barbara co-chaired the 2015 and 2018 Alumni Forums.
