Anna Connors ’24 and Lia Salvatierra ’24 have been named 2024 Hearst National Champions by the Hearst Journalism Awards Program. Anna won first place for the National Photojournalism Championship and Lia won second place for the National Writing Championship.
The twenty-nine finalists participated in the championship in San Francisco from June 1–6, where they demonstrated their writing, photography, audio, television, and multimedia skills in spot assignments.
Anna of Baltimore, Maryland, earned a bachelor’s with highest distinction in media and journalism and a bachelor’s in global studies. She is the co-recipient of the 2023 Beckman Award for Documentary Studies from the Hussman School of Journalism & Media.
Lia of Palo Alto, California, earned a bachelor’s with highest distinction in media and journalism and a bachelor’s in global studies. She was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
