UNC students have elected Ashton Martin ’20 as their next student body president.

The Roxboro, North Carolina, native received 51.8 percent of the vote. Ashton calls her victory a great honor and an incredible opportunity.

“I want to make Student Government a platform students from all over campus can trust to empower and uplift their voice,” she said. “It’s my job to leverage the incredible privilege I’ve been given to make sure students’ interests are best represented and heard through the UNC administration.”

When she takes office in the spring, Ashton will be the seventh Morehead-Cain Scholar to serve as student body president since 2007. In all, 28 scholars have served in the role during the Program’s 74-year history.
