To work as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Rioja, Spain.

Kate earned a BA in English with a concentration in creative writing, completing a thesis in creative nonfiction. She also earned a BA in interdisciplinary studies of education across contexts. Academically, Kate particularly has enjoyed mentored research through the Independent Study program. She spent one semester studying social philosophy and education, and in her final semester she supported a professor in the publication of a book on George Moses Horton. In Chapel Hill, community service and service-learning have been a key part of her experience. She worked closely with APPLES, The Life Center of Durham, and Kidzu Children’s Museum. Most recently, she worked as an educator in Kidzu’s Nest, a space dedicated to children aged 0–3 and their caregivers.
