Immediate Plans

To join McKinsey & Company as a business analyst in Atlanta before applying for graduate school.

Karina earned a BSPH with highest distinction and highest honors in health policy and management, and a BA in English and comparative literature. Driven by a passion for social justice and innovation, she served as a Parr Center Undergraduate Scholar, a Community Empowerment Fund advocate and leadership team member, a Morehead-Cain Scholarship Fund Board student director, a founding member of the Bioethics Society and the Alt Protein Project, and as Campus Y co-president. Her involvement earned her spots in N.C. Fellows, the Order of the Golden Fleece, and the Balter Philosophy Fellowship, as well as the Weinberger Award for Social Justice. An interdisciplinary researcher, she conducted work at Harvard Medical School and their School of Public Health’s Ariadne Labs, North Carolina Integrated Care for Kids, Duke University’s Margolis Center for Health Policy, and the University of Edinburgh. These experiences culminated in her interdisciplinary thesis exploring the philosophical aspects of apology in health care and how they can be translated into the health care system. While at UNC, Karina found joy in camping out in the library, inventing a water device, immersing herself in reading and writing fiction, and goofing off with friends.
