Immediate Plans

To graduate from UNC in December and eventually work in the outdoor education field.

Emily earned a BA in public policy and a BA in journalism with a certificate in business journalism. At Carolina, she worked as a head counselor for the after-school program at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA. On her gap semester, Emily served on an AmeriCorps conservation crew in Hurricane, Utah. After spending four months in the woods, she discovered a passion for the outdoors and went on to pursue a Wilderness First Responder certification. In her final year, Emily volunteered at the Orange County Rape Crisis Center as a community education intern and facilitated the SafeTouch curriculum in K–5 classes throughout the CHCCS system. Emily enjoyed hiking, fostering dogs through the APS of Durham, and taking road trips in her 2006 Toyota Sienna.
