Sophia graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2017 with a degree in public policy and a minor in English.
She has supported students at every stage of the college experience, from applying to and graduating from college. Before joining Morehead-Cain, she guided high school seniors as a college advisor in Manteo and Cape Hatteras, N.C., through the Carolina College Advising Corps. Sophia joined the Foundation staff in the summer of 2019 as the program coordinator for scholar advising, a role that allowed her to combine her passions for advising, education, and professional development. In this role, she supported the scholar advisors and guided scholars through the Lovelace Fund for Discovery grant process.
In the fall of 2022, Sophia became a member of the Selections team and now serves as the scholar recruitment and outreach manager. She enjoys identifying and engaging exceptional students.
Memories of Sophia’s club racquetball team, her campus ministry at the Newman Catholic Student Center, and studying abroad in Spain, Portugal, and Sweden float to the surface as she walks through the campus of her alma mater.
