Rotimi Kukoyi ’26

Morehead-Cain was recently highlighted in SmartBrief for the Program’s innovative approach to leadership development and the college experience.

The feature follows Rotimi Kukoyi ’26 of Hoover, Alabama, whose experiences—from a wilderness expedition to working on improving hospitals in Nigeria—illustrate how leadership is practiced, not just studied. Rotimi reflects in the article:

“For Morehead-Cain, it’s more of an investment . . . that really lets you figure out your place in the world and how you want to make your impact,” the healthy policy and management major said. He spoke with SmartBrief while in Japan studying traditional medicine through the Lovelace Fund for Discovery.

This fall, Rotimi will head to the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and a Truman Scholar

The article quotes Morehead-Cain President Chris Bradford on how the Program integrates “sustained and escalating challenges” that help scholars develop the skills andconfidence to make a global impact.

We are worried about a generation that’s going to have to navigate lots of disruption, lots of uncertainty,” he said. “I think the best way to prepare them for that disruption is to structure their experience in a way that expects them to always be uncomfortable. It is through discomfort that we all learn and grow.”
