Jennifer Halsey Evans ’94 has been appointed to the UNC Board of Trustees. The swearing-in ceremony took place in the University’s South Building on August 21, 2023.
Evans, nominated by the North Carolina House of Representatives, is an investor and businesswoman who lives in Chapel Hill. The alumna moved to North Carolina in 2020 after twenty-two years in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Evans has served as chair of the Morehead-Cain Scholarship Fund, a trustee of the Morehead-Cain Foundation, and co-chair of the $4.2 billion Campaign for Carolina. She was also co-chair of Carolina West, chair of UNC’s Board of Visitors, and served as an adjunct faculty member in the department of economics.
The alumna described her deep appreciation for and relationship with the University as akin to how “a parent loves her children,” she said at the ceremony.
“The extraordinary opportunities I experienced at Carolina enabled virtually all of my life blessings, enduring friendships, and career breaks,” said Evans, a North Carolina native from Burlington. “I’m humbled and honored today to have the opportunity to begin service of this great University as a trustee.”
Morehead-Cain President Chris Bradford said Evans brought a “spirit of collaboration and innovation” to her many leadership roles at Morehead-Cain.
“Jen’s exceptional service to Morehead-Cain as an alumna, chair, and trustee has left a lasting impact on our community,” Bradford said. “Now, as a trustee for Carolina, we know her unwavering commitment to excellence and passion for Carolina will take the University to new heights.”
Evans will serve a four-year term, expiring June 30, 2027.
