In February, Devin Duncan ’28 of Cincinnati, Ohio, was elected Carolina’s student body president, and Ja’Khari Bryant ’27 of Trenton, North Carolina, was elected senior class president for the 2026–2027 academic year.

A double major in public policy and media and journalism, Devin has served as undergraduate student body secretary, a Tar Heel Ambassador, and chair, advisor, and facilitator of the Student Conduct Board.

As student body president, he identified rebuilding trust in student government as a top priority.

“I do not take lightly the urgency of this responsibility, and I commit to rising to meet this moment with discipline, transparency, and accountability,” Devin said in a statement on Instagram.

Beyond student government, he mentors peers as a resident advisor and fosters civic engagement as a Democracy and Dialogue Fellow.

Ja’Khari is a human development and family science and exercise and sports science double major with a minor in neuroscience in the UNC School of Education. The scholar serves as president of the UNC Clef Hangers and secretary of the Union of Black Men.
