Morehead-Cains are members of a special group—one that well understands the dedication that excellence demands. They have demonstrated a desire to use their gifts and abilities to the fullest. Success has been a natural outcome of hard work; failure has been a call to lead and to create new strategies.

But being a Morehead-Cain means much more than mere achievement. They share a set of characteristics that inspire growth—from without and from within.

 

Eligibility Information

North Carolina

Students in North Carolina are eligible to enter the selection process via nomination by their school or self-nomination.

Out-of-State

Students in the United States attending a nominating school or program are eligible to apply if nominated by their school or program.

Canada

Students in Canada are eligible to enter the selection process via nomination.

UK

Students in the United Kingdom are eligible to enter the selection process via nomination.

International

International students attending a nominating school or program are eligible to apply if nominated by their school or program.

Deadlines

The application to join the Morehead-Cain Class of 2029
will open on August 15, 2024.

UNC Sophomore Selection

The Morehead-Cain Sophomore Selection process aims to identify twelve to fifteen current sophomores at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and extend an invitation for them to join the Morehead-Cain Program.

Admissions Referral Program

Students outside of North Carolina, Canada, or the United Kingdom who are not attending a nominating school or affiliate program may be eligible for nomination through the Admissions Referral Program (ARP).

Nominating Schools and Programs

Students outside of North Carolina, Canada, or the United Kingdom must attend a nominating school or affiliate program to be considered for the Morehead-Cain.
