Wesley Price ’20 has received the Luce Scholarship, a nationally competitive fellowship program, to pursue policy research in Jakarta, Indonesia, next year.

The political science and biology major will work at either Pulse Lab Jakarta, The SMERU Research Institute, or the National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K).

Wesley said that while some of his plans have been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, he looks forward to developing data-driven health programs using applied statistics in Indonesia.

“I am so grateful for the passionate and inquisitive community at UNC that has shaped my years here,” he said. “As is clearly evident from these past few months, health and its political and policy underpinnings are globally interconnected, and I hope that this time spent in Asia will make me a more effective and nuanced collaborator in the years to come.”

The scholarship, given by the Henry Luce Foundation, provides stipends, language training opportunities, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 15 to 18 recipients every year.
