Immediate Plans

To spend the next year as an HIV prevention research fellow with UNC Project Malawi in Lilongwe, Malawi, while preparing to apply to graduate school in the healthcare/medical field.

Symone earned a BA in biology and romance languages (Spanish), and a minor in chemistry. At Carolina, she was involved in volunteering through UNC Hospitals, was a member of the Tri-Beta Biology Honors Society and the Order of Omega, and was a co-chair of Phi Delta Epsilon’s annual fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network. Symone was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, in which she served as a regional delegate and was on the planning committee for the chapter’s 50th reunion celebration. During her time at Carolina, she studied abroad and volunteered in Costa Rica to further her knowledge of healthcare and the Spanish language.
