At Carolina, she was an advocate at the Community Empowerment Fund, providing support and resources to underserved populations. During her stop-out year, she conducted research on the prevalence and care of sexually transmitted infections among female sex workers in rural Rwanda. On campus, Senam was a Parr Center for Ethics Fellow, where she co-led the Carolina Forum for Ethics and participated in organizing regional and national high school ethics bowls. She was also a DJ for UNC’s student-run radio station, WXYC. To wrap up her time at Carolina, Senam wrote her senior honors thesis on the impact of Hurricane Florence on access to pharmacies in eastern North Carolina and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She won the Melinda Meade Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research in geography.
