Sarah earned a BS with distinction in biology, a BA in English and comparative literature, and a minor in chemistry. At Carolina, she was heavily involved with the Carolina for the Kids Foundation, serving on the executive board for two consecutive years; first as the hospital and family relations chair, and then as the media relations coordinator. During Sarah’s time on the board, Carolina for the Kids raised $400,000 for the children and families at UNC Children’s Hospital. Sarah also assisted in pancreatic cancer research at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, under Dr. Channing Der, in the Der Lab. Sarah could not have made it through the past four years without the help of her dog, Franklin.
