At Carolina, she was a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the UNC Student Service Corps, and UNC Peers for Progress, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She dedicated over 900 hours to UNC Hospitals as a CNA on the child psychiatry floor and spent two years volunteering as a chat respondent for LSN, an online mental health platform through CAPS. Mallie Clara also researched behavioral health indicators and interventions with the Departments of Neuroscience and Health Behavior at Gillings. During her time at Carolina, she became Reiki certified, competed for the UNC Equestrian Team, and explored every coffee shop in the Chapel Hill–Carrboro area.
