To complete her master’s in biomedical sciences.

Layah earned a BS with highest distinction in psychology. At Carolina, she danced on the hip hop team, UNC Kazi, and became director her senior year. Additionally, she was a member of the pre-health minority association and a mentor at New Hope Elementary School. Layah is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and was inducted into the Order of Omega—the most prestigious Greek leadership honorary in the nation. Academically, Layah conducted research on lung cancer risk factors for the Native American population in North Carolina, was on the Dean’s List throughout her college career, and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. One of her favorite memories at Carolina was completing a Study Abroad Honors Carolina Burch Seminar focused on innovative and connected teams through the lens of elite soccer in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain.
