Before joining the Foundation, India Stevens built a career in corporate events and project management. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in hospitality from Georgia State University and is a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
India’s professional journey has led her to her current role as program manager for the Community team, where her passion for fostering connections remains at the heart of her work. While attending Georgia State, she worked at the business school’s career center, an experience that profoundly influenced her. She was a part of the effort to support students through securing jobs, preparing for interviews, planning events, and building connections. India saw the value in getting to know each student who walked through the door and carried the desire to make a difference at the personal level in every position she has held.
Over the past eight years, India has gained extensive experience in hospitality and project management. She has managed initiatives such as creating a preferred Vendor Program to strengthen relationships nationwide, developing processes, implementing project management systems, and crafting tools to boost engagement among clients and employees. She approaches her work with purpose, dedication, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact.
India loves to bake, paint, and make candles. She enjoys taking walks and visiting museums. She is a self-proclaimed foodie–if there is a food festival, she is there! India lives in Durham with her husband, son, and Great Dane.
