Out-of-state

There are three ways for out-of-state students to be considered for the Morehead-Cain Scholars Program:

Out-of-state nominating schools

Secondary schools outside North Carolina are eligible to nominate one student from the senior class each year by invitation only from the Morehead-Cain Foundation.

The school selection process for the 2008–2009 selection year has been closed. To view the list of eligible out-of-state schools, click these links for a list by school or by state.

If you are interested in your high school becoming an official out-of-state nominating school beginning with the 2009–2010 selection year, please revisit this site in mid-January.

UNC Applicant

Out-of-state students who apply to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by the November 3 deadline will be considered for the Morehead-Cain through the undergraduate admissions referral program. Students selected by the Admissions Office will be personally invited to apply to the Program by the Morehead-Cain Foundation on January 2, 2009.

Morehead-Cain Affiliate Programs

Students may be nominated by one of our selected affiliate programs. These programs include HOBY, School Year Abroad, and the Mountain School. You must be nominated from these programs to be eligible to apply.
