Chris Parris-Lamb ’04 and Chad Harbach on the art of publishing
Join us Friday, February 17th at 3:00 p.m. for a conversation on the Art of Publishing!
Our very own Chris Parris-Lamb ’04, a literary agent for the Manhattan-based Gernert Company, will join best-selling author Chad Harbach for a discussion about The Art of Fielding, Chad’s first novel and one of the New York Times’ best books of 2011.
The book’s fascinating road to best-seller status was chronicled in a Vanity Fair article last summer, in which Parris-Lamb’s literary enthusiasms figure prominently. “This is the hoariest cliche an agent or editor can offer, so you’ll have to forgive me for lacking novelty, blll I loved this book in a way that reminded me of why I got into this business,” Parris-Lamb wrote to Harbach.
Fielding went on to garner a sizable advance from the publisher Little, Brown & Company before becoming one of the top-reviewed books of the year.
We’ll be gathering at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, on the second floor of the Morehead-Cain offices in the east wing of the Morehead Building. The event is free and open to the public.
