May 13, 2009 - Emma Lawrence '09 and Emily Nix '09 Win $15,000 Entrepreneurship Award
Emily Nix ’09 and Emma Lawrence ’09 are part of an undergraduate team that created MedPLUS, a nonprofit that connects surplus medical supplies with hospitals in need. MedPLUS won first place in the social track—the John Stedman Social Entrepreneurship Award and $15,000—in the 2009 Carolina Challenge.

Apr 20, 2009 - Work of Fritz Kramer '05 Featured on FRONTLINE
Fritz Kramer '05 has been working with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Hedrick Smith for the past two years on the documentary POISONED WATERS, which aired Tuesday, April 21st, on PBS FRONTLINE.
Using the case studies of the Chesapeake Bay and Puget Sound, the film is a two-hour special investigation into America's abilities to tackle large-scale environmental cleanups. Fritz was the associate producer on the project, and found the experience to be "a fascinating education." Fritz says: "The piece is visually beautiful and topically important." Mar 10, 2009 - In Memoriam: William F. Little, Ph.D. '55
William F. “Bill” Little, a member of the first class of Morehead Alumni, died Friday, February 27, at his home in Chapel Hill. He was 79. Dr. Little, a revered chemistry professor and former vice president of the UNC system, is perhaps best known as the visionary leader who helped guide the development of the state’s Research Triangle Park and the Research Triangle Institute. Jan 28, 2009 - Jenn Eames '95 Featured in Lacrosse Magazine
Jenn Eames '95, former UNC soccer player and club lacrosse player, was recently featured in Lacrosse Magazine. Jenn is now a top-rated lacrosse umpire. She helped in the development of the U.S. Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates Council. Jenn currently serves on the U.S. Lacrosse Board of Directors as a Women's Division Official Council representative.

John Swofford '71 has been named as a 2009 inductee to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. John is in his twelfth year as ACC commissioner. Jan 15, 2009 - Bill Ulfelder '90 Appointed Director of Nature Conservancy of New York
Bill Ulfelder '90 was recently appointed director of the Nature Conservancy of New York. Bill was previously director of the Eastern Colorado Program. After graduating from UNC, he received a Fulbright Scholarship to undertake a work/study program with the Panamanian park service. He holds dual masters degrees in resource economics and policy as well as environmental management from Duke University.
