North Carolina students
There are two ways for students attending high school in North Carolina to be considered for the Morehead-Cain. They can:
- Receive one of the nominations of your high school and complete the online Morehead-Cain application.
- Complete the online Morehead-Cain application as a direct applicant (application available beginning in August).

| December 3, 2010 | Semifinalists invited to interview with members of the Regional Selection Committee at one of five locations in early January. For more information on Regional Interviews, please click here. |
| January 14, 2011 | Deadline for prospective Scholars to apply to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. |
| January 21, 2011 | Finalists invited to Chapel Hill to attend our Final Selection Weekend. |
| February 26–March 1, 2011 | Final Selection Weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. |
| March 3, 2011 | The Morehead-Cain Class of 2015 is selected. |
| April 11, 2011 | Deadline for Morehead-Cain recipients to notify the Morehead-Cain Foundation of their decision to become a Scholar. |
Please note that the process of admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is separate from the application for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship. Although you are not required to apply to the University to be considered for the Morehead-Cain, you must do so before you can receive the Scholarship. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to apply to the University as soon as possible. All forms and correspondence dealing with admission to Carolina should go directly to the University Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
