Canadian Students

There are two ways students attending high school in Canada may be considered for the Morehead-Cain. They may either be endorsed by their school or cegeps, or may apply directly, without sponsorship. Either way, the following steps are required.

To be considered:

Applications are distributed on behalf of the Canadian Morehead-Cain Program by the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation. Complete the Loran Award application, being sure to check the Morehead-Cain box on page 5, and follow the submission instructions listed therein. The application deadline is October 19 for students sponsored by their schools and October 26 for those applying through the direct pool.

If you have questions about the Canadian Morehead-Cain Programme, or need assistance, please contact Catherine Fowler.

Please Note

Admission to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a separate process from application for the Morehead-Cain. All forms and correspondence dealing with admission to Carolina should go directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The final deadline to apply to Carolina is January 5, 2013.
