2008 –2009 Scholar Achievements

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE CLASS OF 2009

  • 52% graduated with Highest Distinction and 32% graduated with Distinction.
  • 18% graduated with Highest Honors and 16% graduated with Honors.
  • 54% were members of Phi Beta Kappa.
  • 91% were on the Dean’s List.
  • 25% were involved in Student Government.
  • 43% were involved with athletic programs.
  • 50% were members of at least one honorary society.

  • USA Today’s 2009 “Best in Class” (two Morehead-Cain Scholars received this honor in 2009)
  • $10,000 Davis 100 Projects for Peace Award (two Morehead-Cain Scholars received this award in 2009)
  • National Mathematical Contest in Modeling Meritorious Award
  • Athletic Director’s Student Distinction and Student Athlete Awards for Men’s Cross Country
  • 3DL Leader of Distinction Award Carolina Leadership Academy
  • $5,000 Race To BE Winner of Sound Music Entrepreneurship Competition sponsored by the Kauffman Foundation for Private Enterprise
  • 2009 U.S. Intercollegiate Varsity Women’s Orienteering Champion
