Sarah Bufkin
Class of 2013

Final Report, Summer 2010

I traveled, I saw, I ate, I loved, I hated, I raged, I praised.

This summer, I discovered that I possess not only a thirst for knowledge (which I’ve known since preschool), but a thirst for experience—for hard, gritty, cow-ridden, mango-infused experience.

Living and traveling in a world so completely foreign to my own proved to be both trying and exhilarating. I have never felt so independent and so interested in the day-to-day experiences that come with working in a developing country.

Each temple provided me with a new moment of spirituality; each stumbling conversation with an Indian provided me with a new sense of community.

I traveled, I saw, I ate, I loved, I hated, I raged, I praised. I interacted with a world on a level that I never saw necessary or exciting before I left my own comfort zone.

This summer, I discovered that I possess not only a thirst for knowledge (which I’ve known since preschool), but a thirst for experience—for hard, gritty, cow-ridden, mango-infused experience.
