I was just appointed to the chief Clarinet Teaching Artist position for the Atlanta Music Project, an El Sistema program that was brought to the USA from Venezuela as a TED Prize wish for Dr. José Abreu and Gustavo Dudamel (current music director of the L.A. Philharmonic).

The program’s aim is to use classical music to advocate social change in inner city, underserved, and impoverished communities—and it works.

Of course, my Summerbridge experience was brought up in the interview process when asked if I had worked with at-risk youth in underserved communities in the past.

Detailing my experience in that enrichment summer definitely struck a chord with the Executive Director. They offered the position to me immediately.
